Resource: Product Group Report: Remanufacturing in the aerospace industry
The aerospace industry makes a very large contribution to the economy in the UK with national turnover second only to that in the US. The high capital cost of components results in most of them being considered for remanufacture.

A strong skill base in the UK enables remanufacturing to account for 28% of the UK turnover. The industry is an exemplar of remanufacturing and certain aspects of this model can be applied to other industries, such as incorporation of the design for remanufacture into its components. New materials and composites may however reduce the ability of the industry to remanufacture, and research into remanufacture/recycling of advance composites is required.
