Resource: Product Group report: Remanufacturing of small and medium wind turbines
This report, a follow-up to the 2008 Product Group report on the remanufacturing of wind turbines, delves deeper into the benefits and obstacles to remanufacturing of smaller units.
Thursday, 1st April 2010
This report complements the previous work published in December 2008 on the potential for remanufacturing wind turbines. The new report indicates that remanufacturing wind turbines can provide capital-cost reductions to consumers of 50%, and energy savings of 80%, compared to the production of new turbines. However, while successful remanufacturing operations have been evident in the UK, the industry is currently in decline, largely due to barriers created by recent Government policy.
