The disposal of end-of-life mattresses is a significant problem, with most mattresses ending up in landfill sites.

This problem is, however, starting to be addressed through the establishment of recycling schemes which can recover many of the materials used in the mattress construction and recycle them. The current focus is towards establishing recycling schemes to deal with end-of-life mattresses.
