North Bay Remanufacturing and Repair Division of Ontario Northland, that traditionally focused on refurbishing locomotives and rolling stock and maintaining Ontario Northland equipment, has spent the past year expanding its capabilities.
The division now offers locomotive overhauls, freight car repairs, wheel recalibrations and specialty paint services for large equipment. Clients include Metrolinx/GO Transit, CN Rail, VIA Rail, AMT, Genesee & Wyoming and Rail America.
Recent repair contracts have included:
- Heavy repair on ore cars used in the mining industry
- Lumber car repairs for several rail leasing companies
- Heavy maintenance and repairs on a fleet of 300 box cars used in the newsprint industry; and
- Locomotive maintenance and engine rebuilds for a local railway company.
Ontario Northland said that it was committed to strengthening the organization in order to provide an efficient transportation service and sustainable long-term employment in northeastern Ontario.
"I am very proud that our reputation for quality work and our enhanced sales efforts are attracting new business" said John Thib, Vice President. "Over the past year we have expanded our repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing services. Our customers appreciate that we operate our own railroad. We understand the challenges they face with equipment and can offer solutions because we too face them. We are committed to growing this part of our business and know that it enhances our local and regional economies."
