Car sales in ASEAN are expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.8% between 2012 and 2019, to 4.71 million units in 2019. As one of the key AESEAN auto markets, Malaysia is developing as a regional hub with strong growth potential. Malaysias leading international trade fair for the ASEAN automotive industry is expanding to four halls when it opens next year in 2015, with the Remanufacturing Zone as a prominent part. Another show attraction is the return of the Automechanika Kuala Lumpur Mechanics Challenge which provides a platform for workshop staff to demonstrate their automotive knowledge by resolving real world repair challenges. FER warns against engine reman fraud
The Federation of Engine Remanufacturers (FER) has asked the industry to be on the look-out for suspicious engine remanufacturers, after increased fraudulent activity and "sub-standard and unprofessional work".
