News: CRR News: Carbon footprint: putting the boot into cartridges
The UK Cartridge Remanufacturers Association invited Dr Hudai Kara to give a talk on the carbon footprint and life cycle thinking at their AGM in Warwick on 24 September.
Monday, 6th October 2008
The carbon footprint is becoming important for the UKCRA as the European Commission is in the process of developing measures to include cartridges in Energy using Products (EuP) Directive to improve their environmental impacts. Dr Kara provided an overview on the work and methodology development to calculate the carbon impact of various remanufactured products. Following the robust “IPCC 100” methodology (see external web link on this page), we found that remanufactured toner cartridges showed about 37% lower carbon footprint than the new ones. We are now adding the effect of use phase into this work. If you want to have your toner cartridge carbon footprint calculated, then please contact us.
Survey launched for Printer Cartridge Reuse project
The European Commission has commissioned a study to support compliance promotion relating to the implementation of Directive 2012/19/EU on WEEE and the CRR is investigating the case study of printer cartridge reuse
