Corporate Reuse Options

Corporate users with a lot of products to hand can, potentially, get good deals with remanufacturers and refurbishers. With sufficient high quality returns, corporate purchasers can enter into a range of buy, deposit-return, lease, upgrade, and pay-per-use options which offer financial and environmental benefits. These options are very dependent on the type of product, its condition and age.

Your first step should be to contact the Original Equipment Manufacturers. They may offer take-back credit and remanufacturing services for you, or to sell on to others. Alternatively, they may be able to recommend accredited contracted remanufacturers.

If this fails, you could use our Remanufacturing Directory to locate likely operators, or follow our product and sector guides below. Note also that our Purchasing Section details where you can buy remanufactured and refurbished goods; the same companies are likely to take them back.

Certain products are highly suitable for charitable donation and possibly export to “secondary markets” in developing countries. As an organisation you will be keen to locate ethical and regulated operators who can avoid issues of dumping and other bad connotations. This is particularly true of IT equipment and, to a smaller extent, furniture, office equipment and construction materials.

Finally, if all else fails, accredited recyclers and waste handlers – probably your normal channels – can take, sort, recycle and dispose appropriately.

Remember: You may be able to claim a carbon credit for placing goods back into reuse, and especially if you buy reused goods. This can form a legitimate element of your company CSR report. Contact us for more details.
