Remanufacturing in the UK - Biffaward study
This study, published by the Resource recovery Forum in 2004, was the first to attempt to document and quantify the practice of remanufacturing in the UK.
The study furthermore questions the business enablers for remanufacturing with a view to proposing actions that could boost activity. It concludes that remanufacturing in the UK, driven by economics rather than environmental motives, is making a significant contribution to materials efficiency embodying substantial equivalent carbon savings.
Remanufacturing has the potential for even greater contribution to sustainable consumption, and there are steps that all stakeholders can take to enable this.
The report considers the barriers and opportunities existing for remanufacture. In the light of this it goes on to recommend possible actions and opportunities for business and possible actions for RDAs.
